Embroidery Supplies
If you
offer embroidery to your clients, you need the right embroidery supplies, and
American Niagara can help. We provide quality embroidery supplies to printing
shops and hobbyists. Here's a look at just some of the products we offer.
Tearaways
Tearaways are embroidery stabilizers for the back of a project. When the embroidery is done, you can simply tearaway this backing. You don't have to worry about cutting. Tearaways are perfect for use with a huge range of materials, but you should use caution when using them with very delicate materials such as loose knit sweaters or stretchy fabrics. Swimsuits and socks, however, are two exceptions to this tip. Both of these materials work well with tearaway or washaway (water soluble) embroidery backing.
Cutaways
Cutaway backings are another essential embroidery supply, and the excess from this stabilizer or backing can be cut away when you are done doing the embroidery work. This backing helps to keep your design crisp while you are working, and it also helps to protect the integrity of your embroidery as people wear and wash the item that has been embroidered. When you cutaway the backing, make sure to leave ample room around your stitches, and take care not to cut the fabric you have embroidered.
Press and Tear
Sometimes called peel and stick, press and tear embroidery stabilizers provides the stability you need both while working and later while washing and wearing the item. This backing sticks to the material you are working on, which helps to hold it in place even without hoops. Additionally, when you are done, you can simply tear away the excess.
Mesh
If you're worried about the backing showing through the material, you may want to choose mesh when you order embroidery supplies. Mesh allows light to shine through it, making it ideal for light colored or lightweight materials.
Sol-U-Film
Sol-U-Film is a water soluble embroidery supply. It works with machinery and hand embroidery as well as monogramming. If you don't want to deal with cutting or are worried that tearaway stabilizers may not work with your fabric, you may want to try this washaway or water soluble alternative.
1.5-Ounce to 2-Ounce Light Backing
As you look at different embroidery supplies, you will see a number of different weights. Two-ounce or lighter is a lightweight backing that is idea for high stitch counts or dense designs. It can work with materials ranging from golf shirts to umbrellas.
2.5-Ounce Medium Backing
This medium backing can also work with knit golf shirts as well as varsity and wool jackets and shetland sweaters. It also works with with high density stitching and designs.
3-Ounces and Higher Heavy Backing
This embroidery supply is ideal for use with thicker garments, and again, it also works beautifully with high stich counts and dense designs. You may want to experiment with cutaway and tearaway backings with different weights to find out which option works best for your style of embroidery.
