The Difference between Dyed and White Screen Mesh

What's the difference between dyed and white Screen Mesh?
Screen mesh Is considered as one of the most important parts of screen printing.
It is an important distinction to know to know and understand what particular screen mesh will be used in your printing.
And with this aspect, we turned to dyed and white screen mesh. Is there any difference between the two Mesh Types?

To give you an idea about dyed and white screen mesh, here are some of their differences:

  • Dyed is also referred to as yellow mesh. This type of mesh takes an exposure of 50% longer than the exposure of white mesh with 15 to 20%.
  • Dyed screen mesh soaks or absorbs the light up while white mesh prevents or deflects the light. The light has the possibility on scattering in the white mesh that will cause it fewer firm or resolute image.
  • White Screen Mesh is typically used in counts of lower mesh with up to one hundred fifty (150) that is generally used in work for larger text and for spot color.
    • Also, white mesh helps emulsion expose faster, reducing time spent in the darkroom.
  • Yellow or dyed screen mesh generates a small amount of light refraction.
    • You can acquire a greater amount of truer image that you specifically desire.
    • It will also result in a crisp print with distinctive edges.

It is important to understand the difference between white and dyed mesh, to know what specific screen mesh would best fit to your printing process.
